“Your philosophy is nothing but a bunch of B.S.!” the nurse said to me as I left the school after a presentation to the children. “You’re right!” I replied with a smile, “And that’s why people do so well!”
Will you have enough B.S. in your life today to make a significant difference in what your life will be like tomorrow, next week and next year? Oh, I guess I need to explain what I mean by B.S. before you can answer that question, don’t I? Well, let’s see if you can figure out what B.S. stands for by the end of this article. I’ll begin by giving you two clues. First, “Slow but steady wins the race,” was the lesson in the Aesop’s fable entitled The Tortoise and the Hair. Next, when my daughter was two, she told me she was going to eat a huge tree. When I asked her how she was going to get that huge tree into her tiny little tummy, she replied, “Well Daddy, you just keep talking little bites, and pretty soon it’s all gone!”
One kind of B.S. that can make a huge difference in your life in as little as 2 weeks is to drink at least 10 – 12 glasses of pure water every single day. I know this won’t seem like B.S., but taken every day, it will move you consistently in the direction you want to go. Another type of B.S. that is very easy to bring into your life is to take several deep breathes many times throughout the day. This B.S. is also a very powerful way to keep moving toward a higher level of ease.
A type of B.S. just about everyone agrees is important but rarely involves themselves in is making sure they have a balance of movement and rest including exercise and sleep. Of course, there’s eating a high energy diet, rich in raw or slightly cooked fruits and veggies and their juices. But you already knew about that kind of B.S. didn’t you? Still, how consistent have you been at allowing yourself to experience this kind of B.S.?
One of the most powerful forms of B.S. is in keeping your focus centered on what is going right in your life and in the world, rather than always thinking about what is wrong or missing. You can very easily add this B.S. into your life by keeping a small pad of paper by your bed and writing in it first thing each morning and right before you go to bed each night. Simply write down three things you’re grateful for right now. This may be the most powerful B.S. you can personally control. It can literally change your entire life!
Finally, there is one kind of B.S. that is necessary for all of the other B.S. to have any positive impact at all in your life. Make sure that the neurological connections between YOU and your body are clear by getting regular chiropractic check-ups. That way, all of the other important B.S. that you are bringing into your life will have a chance to actually be used in continually moving you in the direction you want your health and your life to go.
Have you figured it out yet? Do you know what I mean by B.S.? It stands for BABY STEPS! That’s right! You see, the reason people do so well when they fill their lives with this kind of B.S. is that they are not looking for short-term solutions to problems they have acted themselves into over the course of their lifetimes. They are causing a slow but steady change in the direction they are headed by making small changes. The interesting thing is, by taking baby steps they are actually going to facilitate the miracles they have been looking for. Someone once said, “If you want to eat a lot, eat a little. That way you’ll be around long enough to eat a lot!”
You see, if you will stop looking for the one or two things that will propel you back to health and happiness at light speed, and instead begin steadily filling your life with the kinds of B.S. we have talked about, you will in fact win the race! Remember, THE WAY TO SUCCESS IS THROUGH CONSISTENT B.S.!
When you follow that advice, you won’t have to fear all the other types of “B.S.” in the world!
